1 dead in Highway 12 crash | News

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA - A woman died in a solo-vehicle accident on Highway 12 Sunday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol says a Nissan sedan traveling at the speed limit eastbound on the highway west of Guard Road suddenly drifted to the left, went off the roadway and overturned into a deep ditch. There was about one foot of water in the ditch.

Emergency responders cut the Nissan open to pull the female driver out of the car.

She was transported to Lodi Memorial Hospital but did not survive, said CHP Officer James Smith.

Her name has not been released.

The initial investigation suggests alcohol did not play a role in the crash, Smith said.

The crash was reported at 2:13 p.m.
